Day 15: Focusing More on Long-Form, Instagram Slowing Down, Final Week(s) Before the Cohort Push
I’ve set the ambitious goal of $1,000,000 in total revenue as a creator in 2025. This is my attempt at documenting the journey from $100,000 to $1,000,000 in one year.
January 12, 2025 Recap
A pretty slow day in terms of sales. Only $177 in sales (as of 10 pm US EST). This is significantly below average, but I’m not concerned unless I start seeing a longer-term pattern. The concerning thing this week has been the drop off in Instagram viewership on Reels. I feel like a lot of that can be attributed to other dominating events like the fires in Los Angeles. Of course, that’s much more important than what we’re trying to do here. If you’re looking to support a reputable and vetted fund, consider donating to the Wildfire Relief Fund, organized by GoFundMe.
Focusing More on Long-Form Videos
Today, I posted what I think is my most valuable (YouTube) video to date: A breakdown of the exact marketing strategy I’ve been using on Instagram for the past 12 or so months.
Why share all this information for free?
Honestly, it’s just the philosophy of making my free stuff better than everyone else’s paid stuff. There’s so much bullshit out there and upselling from literal garbage, and I think people are just sick and tired of it. I feel like we need a place on YouTube (and even short-form content) to not have to worry about all the fast-paced edits and clickbaity titles and hooks. I just want to deliver the shit straight. No gatekeeping. No funnel hacking. No sleazy sales tactics. Just me, my computer, my camera, and no script.
Over the next few months, I’m going to do more unscripted, long-form videos and see how that ties into waitlist conversions for the Cohort and other paid products. I’ll likely use UTM codes and unique discount codes to see which traffic source is converting the best. I’m assuming this will continue to be Instagram as it’s going to take the YouTube channel some time to grow. But I’m excited to see how YouTube plays into the future of the marketing strategy and revenue stream.
Speaking of YouTube videos, you can watch the most recent video here.
Speaking of Cohort, I plan to start promoting that on February 1.
